Working with Professor Charles Bigelow, Melbert B. Cary Distinguished Professorship, the typecasting project investigates and measures the expressiveness or “personality” of typefaces. As an interactive survey and graphing tool the prototype application measured users’ perception and emotional response to traditional print typefaces. This information was then used to begin to understand the importance and need to expand the typeface possibilities for online use.
